Signatures and copies can be legalised by Notaries Public as well. Please note that signatures and copies legalised by Notaries Public can only be accepted in Hungary if the document is further legalised with an Apostille. For further information about Apostille in the UK please visit this website.
In exceptional cases the seal and the signature of the Notary Public concerned may be legalised by the Consulate General as well (i.e. diplomatic legalisation). If you wish to ask for the assistance of a Notary Public please note that the Consulate can accept legalisations only from those Notaries Public whose signature and sample seal or stamp are at disposal of the Consulate. You can find the list of these Notaries Public here and (for Notaries in England, Wales and Northern Ireland) on the website of the Embassy in London.
For diplomatic legalisation, please book an appointment online or send the following documents to the Consulate by post:
- the document(s) on which the seal and the signature of the Notary Public should be legalised;
- copy of your passport, ID card or driving licence;
- a self-addressed return envelope.
In case of an application by post, the consular fee of the legalisation must be paid via bank transfer. For more information, please contact us via konz.edi@mfa.gov.hu
